Congressman Mike Thompson Campaigning for Candidate Huffman

Assemblymember Jared Huffman, who is a candidate for Congress in the newly-drawn 2nd congressional district, will be campaigning in Mendocino County this week, and the public is invited to meet him at any one of several local events.

 

 

 

Huffman is joined on the campaign trail by Congressman Mike Thompson, who will no longer be representing the North Coast starting next year due to redistricting. Thompson has endorsed Huffman, stating that, “Jared Huffman is the best choice to represent the North Coast in Congress. He has shown his commitment to our communities and the issues we care about.” Thompson continued, “I am proud to join his campaign team and look forward to working closely with him in Congress.” 

 

 

 

Huffman has a full schedule of meetings and events to discuss his campaign for Congress and to hear about the issues most important to the people of Mendocino. Meetings and topics to be covered include broadband access, tribal issues, discussion with rural health clinic leaders, and roundtable with wine grape growers among others.

About Jared Huffman

Jared Huffman currently represents Southern Sonoma and Marin Counties in the California State Assembly. Huffman started his political career as a member of the Marin Municipal Water District (MWWD) in 1994. He served 12 years on the board, including three terms as Board President before besting five Democrats in a heavily contested race for the State Assembly in the June 2006 Primary.

Huffman graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and cum laude from Boston College Law School. Prior to law school he was a three-time NCAA All-American athlete and was a member of USA Volleyball Team in 1987 when the team was ranked #1 in the world and had recently won the world championship. Huffman lives in Marin with his wife Susan, a teacher, and their children, Abby (age 12) and Nathan (age 9). In his free time, Huffman enjoys fishing, tennis and home winemaking.
