Eureka, CA – Congressional candidate Assemblymember Jared Huffman, has announced that the Eureka Progressive Democratic Club (EPDC) has voted to endorse his candidacy for the open seat in the 2nd Congressional District. The EPDC is a recognized club chartered under the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee.
“Jared’s impressive legislative record and his long history of work and service on natural resource and civil rights issues is a big part of the reason why we endorsed him,” said Linda Atkins, Chair of the EPDC. “We also endorsed him because he doesn’t just talk the talk, he actually gets in there and works with people to solve real problems. “
During the recent EPDC endorsement meeting, advocates on behalf of Huffman stood and gave their reasons why the group should endorse him for Congress. “I like the fact that Jared is endorsed by people like Congressman Mike Thompson, Assemblymember Wes Chesbro, and Senator Dianne Feinstein,” said EPDC member Debra Broner. “It says a lot about his competence, his loyalty, and how trustworthy he really is.”
The EPDC endorsement joins a long and diverse list of endorsements for Huffman that includes groups like the Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, the California Federation of Teachers, the California Labor Federation, the Building and Construction Trades Council, the California Small Business Association, and the CDF Firefighters.

About Jared Huffman
Jared Huffman currently represents Southern Sonoma and Marin Counties in the California State Assembly. Huffman started his political career as a member of the Marin Municipal Water District (MWWD) in 1994. He served 12 years on the board, including three terms as Board President before besting five Democrats in a heavily contested race for the State Assembly in the June 2006 Primary.
Huffman graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and cum laude from Boston College Law School. Prior to law school he was a three-time NCAA All-American athlete and was a member of USA Volleyball Team in 1987 when the team was ranked #1 in the world and had recently won the world championship. Huffman lives in Marin with his wife Susan, a teacher, and their children, Abby (age 12) and Nathan (age 9). In his free time, Huffman enjoys fishing, tennis and home winemaking.
