Dear Friends,

It's been a busy first three months in Congress!  In the Budget Committee and on the floor of the House, I've fought hard against draconian cuts in the Ryan Budget that would shred our social safety net, repeal historic healthcare reforms, and put our economic recovery at risk....

San Rafael, CA- In the race for California’s 2nd Congressional District, which spans more than 500 miles of iconic coastline, one of America’s leading environmental champions, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has endorsed Assemblymember Jared Huffman.

A longtime defender of the environment, Kennedy presently serves as Chief Prosecuting Attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper, President of Waterkeeper Alliance, and a Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).  Kennedy is the son of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy.

"With a leader like Jared, Congress is more likely to show leadership in stopping global warming, cleaning up air and water pollution, and protecting our public health," said Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

"Whether or not you live in California's new 2nd Congressional District, we all stand to benefit by electing a legislator who understands that protecting the environment is not about saving fishes and the birds for their own sake; it’s about recognizing that nature is the infrastructure of our communities, and we must meet our obligation as a generation, a civilization, a nation, to create communities for our children that provide opportunities for dignity, enrichment and good health.  To have this kind of natural infrastructure, we must invest in the political infrastructure that can make it possible," Kennedy stated.

“Bobby Kennedy has been a driving force in protecting our country’s environment for years and I am proud to have his endorsement,” said Huffman.  “I look forward to working with him and other leading environmentalists in Congress.”

Kennedy’s endorsement is the latest in an impressive string of green endorsements for Huffman, who has one of the strongest environmental records in the state legislature.  In fact, Huffman has been endorsed by every environmental group to take a position in the race, including: the Sierra Club, League of Conservation Voters, Environment California, Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, Humane Society Legislative Fund, Ocean Champions, and Forests Forever.
