SAN RAFAEL, CA – Congressional candidate, Assemblymember Jared Huffman today announced another significant endorsement in the race for California’s 2nd Congressional District.  Huffman has won the backing the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), which includes the two largest firefighters unions in the North Bay:  Marin Professional Firefighters Association (IAFF L-1775) and the Santa Rosa Professional Fire Fighters’ Association (IAFF L-1401).

Bob Briare, President of the Marin Professional Firefighters, said, “we are endorsing Jared Huffman for Congress because firefighters value Jared’s loyalty, leadership and commitment to stand up and fight for funding that provides additional equipment, increased safety, and staffing levels on the fire line.”

Marin Professional Firefighters represents nearly 400 firefighters from 13 local and county government agencies. It represents nearly every firefighter from every fire district, county, and municipal fire department in Marin.

Jack Thomas, President of the Santa Rosa Professional Firefighters, said, “Jared's track record of standing up for working people and his outstanding work ethic make him the ideal person to represent the people of California's beautiful north coast. We look forward to working with Jared in Congress for many years."

The Santa Rosa Professional Firefighters, Local 1401, represents over 130 firefighters and paramedics in Sonoma County.

“I’m honored that these brave men and women who put their lives on the line for our public safety are supporting me for Congress,” said Huffman. “Adding Marin and Sonoma County firefighters to our growing list of endorsements is a real boost to the campaign as we enter the final 90 days to the June 5th election.”

The IAFF endorsement bolsters Huffman’s commanding lead among organized labor groups in the congressional race.  Huffman has now earned endorsements from over two dozen local, state, and national unions representing thousands of workers in diverse professions including building trades, engineers, transit workers, law enforcement, and educators.
