SAN RAFAEL, CA – Today Assemblymember Jared Huffman announced one of the most significant endorsements to date in the race for California’s 2nd Congressional District.  He has won the backing of Northern California's largest labor council, the North Bay Labor Council, AFL-CIO, which represents 71 Labor Unions throughout California. After an extensive process in which all Democratic candidates sought the endorsement, the Council voted last week to support Huffman.

“The North Bay Labor Council, AFL-CIO and its over 60,000 members and their families are proud to have endorsed Jared Huffman for Congress. Jared Huffman has been a great legislator and advocate on behalf of working families for many years. His strong record in supporting and advancing the issues of working people in the state legislature makes him the best candidate for working families in the North Bay” said Lisa Maldonado, Executive Director of the North Bay Labor Council.

Huffman, who has a career 97% voting record from Labor (one of the highest in the Assembly), is a leading candidate in the race for California’s 2nd Congressional District and has secured most of the key labor endorsements in the district.

“I have always fought for the needs of working families, and as a member of Congress I will continue to support policies and investments that improve their lives, grow the middle class, and create quality jobs in Northern California,” said Huffman. “I am honored to have the support of one of our district’s leading labor councils, the North Bay Labor Council.”

Huffman has now earned the endorsement of over 20 local, state, and national unions representing thousands of workers in diverse professions including building trades, engineers, transit workers, law enforcement, and educators.
