What we're up against!

Friday, March 29, 2013

Dear Friends,

It's been a busy first three months in Congress!  In the Budget Committee and on the floor of the House, I've fought hard against draconian cuts in the Ryan Budget that would shred our social safety net, repeal historic healthcare reforms, and put our economic recovery at risk....

Assemblyman Jared Huffman is the best choice in North Coast race for Congress.

It's been tough to be a recent college graduate, unemployed and living back at home with my parents. However, there has been one big perk: I have an unprecedented amount of time to grant my full attention to this historic congressional election.

Born and raised in Marin, I consider myself to be in tune with the political culture here. Even while studying political science at UCLA, I kept up to date with the politics of my hometown.

I found myself with the opportunity to follow Assemblyman Jared Huffman during a class on California politics. In my research, I was consistently amazed by his ability to maintain his strong Democratic values while also being an extremely effective legislator.

In the six years, he has represented us in the Assembly, Huffman has managed to pass over 60 bills in a legislature notorious for its partisan gridlock. This is critical to my belief that he is the ideal candidate to represent us in Congress.

His unique skill set served him well, not only during his significant work as a civil rights attorney, representing minorities in workplace discrimination cases, but as an environmentalist in the state Legislature.
